President Joe Biden has dropped out from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the Democratic National Convention in August.

In the wake of Biden's announcement and endorsement, Democrats nationwide have rallied to show their support for Harris. This support has made her the frontrunner as the presumptive Democrat nominee for the 2024 presidential race the title once held by Biden a few short days ago.

So does this mean we will soon have a Donald Trump and Harris debate?

Maybe...

Trump, who won the delegate vote at the Republican National Convention last week to be the party's presidential candidate, has pushed back at the notion of debating Harris, or any other possible candidate, anytime before the Democrat's national convention in August.

Here's what the next presidential debate could look like and when it could happen.

When is the next presidential debate?

The next Trump vs. Biden debate was scheduled for Sept. 10 to air on ABC, but Trump may not be game to debate any other candidates that the Democrats bring in, per some of the former President's social media posts on Truth Social.

"Now that Joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC."

In an interview with CBS News, Trump gave a somewhat equivocal answer to the debate question: "I don’t know who I'm going to debate. So far, we haven’t determined who is going to be on that side. But I think whoever it is, I’d like to debate. Yeah, sure."

Is Kamala Harris the official Democratic candidate for president?

Not yet. Harris will need to be nominated as the official candidate during the Democratic National Convention where party delegates from across the United States and its territories will vote on who will be the party's official candidate for the 2024 presidential race.

Biden won 3,896 delegate votes from across the United States. These delegates will vote for someone besides Biden to represent the party - even if he won their states' primaries earlier this year.

What about the vice presidential debate?

Before Biden exited the race, Trump’s campaign publicly declined to set a date for the vice presidential debate. The argument? The uncertainty around which candidate would appear on the ticket left them unable to commit to a date, according to reports from USA TODAY.

How can delegates not vote for Joe Biden during the DNC if he won the primaries?

A section in the DNC rules referred to as the "good conscience" clause ― under Rule 13 (J)― allows for delegates to not vote for a candidate that won the primaries in their state. Here's how it reads:

"Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them."

Originally adopted in the 1980s, the "good conscience" clause was added so delegates at the DNC can vote for anyone they choose if they, in all good conscience, represent their beliefs even if the person didn't win the primary in their state.

When is the DNC?

The Democratic National Convention will start Monday, Aug. 19 and end Thursday, Aug. 22.
