Nine people from Haiti arrested after suspected migrant landing near Juno Beach Pier

JUNO BEACH — Nine migrants from Haiti are under arrest after a sailboat came ashore in Juno Beach early Monday, the U.S. Border Patrol-Miami Sector said.

Investigators believe the people were involved in a maritime smuggling incident, Jeffrey Dinise, chief patrol agent for the Miami Sector, said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The boat came ashore south of the Juno Beach Pier. Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement officers worked the scene.

Authorities seized the vessel, which was suspected of being involved. No other details were immediately available.

The landing came three days after another boat that likely carried migrants came ashore near Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach.

Both landings took place at a tense time for immigrants in Florida and across the U.S.

Many Haitians in the country on temporary protected status risk losing that designation later this year. This weekend, the administration of President Donald Trump took it away from about 300,000 Venezuelans who now risk deportation in the next few months.
