Democratic governors are expected to meet Wednesday evening with President Joe Biden.

The meeting comes about a week after President Biden debated GOP nominee and former president Donald Trump in a performance that raised concerns, USA TODAY reported. Some governors will attend the session with the president in person, others virtually.

The White House confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Lujan Grisham would join the call virtually.

The Sun-News asked the Governor's office for confirmation directly but did not receive a reply.

The meeting was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET.

Lujan Grisham is among several other Western governors who will participate, including Arizona's Gov. Katie Hobbs, California's Gov. Gavin Newsom, Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado and Oregon's Gov. Tina Kotek.

Meeting follows Monday call with governors and President Biden

USA TODAY reported that the Wednesday meeting follows a conference call organized by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, with his peers to talk about Biden's debate performance.

During the call, they discussed seeking a conversation with Biden, according to the report.

"Democratic governors are some of the President and Vice President’s most proactive and vocal supporters because they’ve seen how the Biden-Harris Administration’s accomplishments are directly benefiting their residents," a national Democratic source said in a statement published by USA TODAY. "The Biden/Harris team is in constant communication with the governors and their teams, including about yesterday's meeting."

Lujan Grisham backs Biden policies

Lujan Grisham has voiced support for Biden's economic, women's health and border policies and agenda.

In August 2023, Lujan Grisham spoke at a conference on Biden's economic agenda saying she was grateful for the investment in clean energy, industry and manufacturing jobs and federal investment in New Mexico's economy.

"This is the kind of leadership that we have always deserved," Lujan Grisham said of Biden.

"You are creating the opportunity that guarantees the future that we've been talking about for New Mexicans for decades and we here in New Mexico recognize that and we thank you Mr. President and Vice President Harris for these opportunities and for believing in the America that's always been there but required a federal leader, a courageous partner, so that the private sector could see what we see in this beautiful state of ours."

In an interview with CNN in May, Lujan Grisham spoke about how her border concerns align with those of Biden.

"I'm not disappointed. I'm frustrated and I think he's (Biden) incredibly frustrated as well," Lujan Grisham said.
