(WGHP) — As calls for President Biden to step aside prior to the Democratic National Convention in August and make way for a new democratic nominee mount, local Democratic delegates are promising to follow the party.

FOX8 spoke with three local delegates on Friday, and they all said they are supporting Biden unless he makes the decision to remove himself from contention.

Nationally, those calls for Biden to step aside are mounting as concerns over his health, his mental acuity and fitness to serve linger after the most recent presidential debate.

For local delegates representing North Carolina at the DNC, the issue is who can beat former President Donald Trump in November. All three FOX8 spoke with agreed it’s Biden until he decides it isn’t.

“We have two very stark differences and two very different track records that show President Biden has been willing to show up and show out for North Carolina families,” said JacQuez Johnson, a Davidson County delegate.

“I am committed to being a Biden-Harris delegate … As long as he’s at the top of the ticket, that’s who I am supporting,” Representative Pricey Harrison said.

Both say they would support Kamala Harris if she were the nominee as well.

Delegate Beverly Bard said she supports Biden until he steps aside as well. She commended him for his service and said she wished for a better world for her children and grandchildren.
