Fire officials said when they arrived, flames had already spread throughout the home causing it to be a total loss.

Phobe Tran said she and her family moved into the home seven years ago after leaving Vietnam, and now they’re forced to start over again.

Tran said when the fire happened it was just her and her daughters at home when she noticed smoke coming from her backyard.

She says she ran to a neighbor’s house, but she only speaks Vietnamese and was unable to properly communicate with them.

Leaving her to call a family friend, Tony Le for help.

“I immediately called the police – 911 about 8:43,” Le said.

He said he is a translator for the Tran family and said not many things were salvageable after the fire.

“Just maybe a few luggage,” Le said.

The family is now gathering the rest of what’s left.

“She doesn’t know what she’s going to do right now she’s temporarily staying at my house,” Le said.

Tran says the timing of the incident was horrible–being that her husband’s cancer has gotten worse.

“She says she would like to send out a word to say thank you to anybody for thinking or praying for her,” Le said.
