Northern California deputies execute massive marijuana bust yielding over 25,000 plants
(FOX40.COM) — One day after California State Parks revealed the removal of about 6,000 pounds of marijuana grow waste from a series of parks throughout the state, a Northern California agency has announced the discovery of even more illegal marijuana in the region.
On Thursday, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department said its marijuana enforcement team executed 15 search warrants over two weeks from the end of June to the beginning of July and found over 25,000 marijuana plants and over 3,000 pounds of processed marijuana.
The sheriff’s department added that 59 environmental violations and 64 water code violations were issued as a result of their discovery. Eight hazardous, illegal, or banned pesticides were also found.

“The majority of the warrants were served in the Rackerby and Brownsville areas,” the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department said.
Law enforcement added that its most recent search, held on July 9, led to the arrest of two Northern California residents, a 72-year-old from Stockton and a 75-year-old from Woodland.
Both people were booked at a Yuba County jail on suspicion of marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale, conspiracy, and possession of an illegal/restricted pesticide.
The sheriff’s department said it was assisted in its investigation by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the National Guard, the California Environmental Protection Agency, the California State Water Board, and the Department of Cannabis Board.
