‘Do not leave animals on our property’: Oconto Area Humane Society’s security cameras catch dog being abandoned

OCONTO, Wis. (WFRV) – Security cameras at the Oconto Area Humane Society caught a dog being abandoned on their property Monday, and officials are reminding the public about correct intake procedures.

A Facebook post from the Oconto Area Humane Society (OAHS) stated that the dog was abandoned on their property and was attached to metal poles with a retractable leash. Although security cameras captured the incident around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, the person responsible has not yet been identified.

Officials with the Humane Society say shelter staff discovered the abandoned dog on Tuesday morning. They stated that the dog was microchipped, however, the phone number on record is no longer in service.

The staff treated the dog for an ear infection and also noted that she may have some digestive issues.
