Now may be a good time to buy stamps

JOPLIN, Mo. — If you’re looking to save a little money, you may want to consider purchasing stamps this week.

On July 14, the price of Forever Stamps will go up. The new rate will include a 5-cent increase from 68 cents to 73 cents.

In early April, the United States Postal Service proposed the second stamp price increase this year.

According to the USPS, this latest increase would raise mailing services product prices by approximately 7.8%.

Here are the services included in the proposed price increase:

  • First-Class Mail Forever stamps — increasing from $0.68 to $0.73.

  • One-ounce letters — increasing from $0.64 to $0.69.

  • Domestic postcards — increasing from $0.53 to $0.56.

  • International postcards and letters — increasing from $1.55 to $1.65.

  • Additional-ounce prices for single-piece letters — increasing from $0.24 to $0.28.

Stamp prices alone have soared 36% since 2019 when they used to cost 50 cents. The Postal Service last raised First-Class stamp prices by two cents in January, just a few months after it raised prices by three cents in July 2023.
