NWS urges: ‘Stay out of the water’

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The NWS in Cleveland has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Lake Erie and urges people to, “remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions…high risk of rip currents expected.”

“Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake,’ according to the NWS.

Things to know about dangerous rip currents and how swimmers caught in one can escape

The rip current advisory runs through 8 a.m. Monday morning and is for Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula Counties.
