NEW YORK (PIX11) – The NYC Pride March will be held in the streets of Manhattan on Sunday.

The NYC Pride March is one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in the world. It has been an annual event since it was first held in 1970 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the momentous Stonewall Uprising in Greenwich Village.

“[The NYC Pride March] has since evolved into an annual civil rights demonstration. Its purpose has expanded over time to encompass raising awareness about the fight against AIDS and honoring those we have lost to illness, violence, and neglect,” the NYC Pride March website says.

The NYC Pride March typically attracts tens of thousands of participants and millions of spectators.

The NYC Pride March will start at noon on Sunday, June 30.

What is the route for the NYC Pride March?

The NYC Pride March will begin at West 25th Street and Fifth Avenue. It will proceed south down Fifth Avenue and then turn west on West 8th Street. After crossing over Sixth Avenue, marchers will continue on Christopher Street and pass the Stonewall National Monument.

Who are the NYC Pride March grand marshals?

DaShawn Usher, Miss Major, Michelle Visage, Raquel Willis, Eshe Ukwell and Baddie Brooks were selected as the grand marshals for this year’s NYC Pride March.

The NYC Pride March will be broadcast on WABC-7 from noon to 3 p.m.
