Officer-involved shooting, house fire in Edmond
EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) – Police and firefighters responded to an Edmond neighborhood Wednesday morning.
According to the Edmond Fire Department, crews responded to a home near E 15th St. and Bryant Ave. around midnight.
Shortly after, Edmond police officers responded to the same area after receiving a call about a man swinging a knife.
Edmond Police say officers found the man in the driveway of the house still holding the knife. This led to an officer shooting the suspect.

“So, our calling party stated that a man had swung a knife at him and took off down the street,” said Emily Ward with Edmond PD. “So, when we arrived, he was back in the driveway where the fire is and that’s where the shots were fired.”
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition is unknown.
As for the fire, Edmond FD says the home is heavily damaged from smoke, heat and water.
“A lot of damage even if the fire doesn’t damage. You have damage from the smoke, then you also have some damage from the heat also,” said Deputy Chief Chris Denton with Edmond FD. “The heat and then the water damage too.”
It is unclear what caused the fire or if the two incidents are related.
