Officials reveal the cause of the Mariposa County French Fire
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Cal Fire law enforcement officials released the cause of the French Fire, which burned several hundred acres in Mariposa County, on Friday.
Fire investigators say the July 4th fire was started by improper usage of a lawn mower in dried grass. Officials say mowers are designed to be used only on wet or green lawns.
Cal Fire says the French fire burned approximately 908 acres and 18 structures were identified as destroyed or damaged.
The French fire investigation has been referred to the Maiposa District Attorney, according to officials.
Cal Fire says please be aware and remain vigilant when using any type of mechanized equipment during the summer months.
