Olympia police release image of man accused of fatal Percival Creek shooting

The Olympia Police Department has released an image of the suspect wanted in connection to a fatal shooting over the weekend at Percival Creek on the city’s west side.

The Olympian typically does not identify suspects before they have appeared in court, but in this case the man remains at large.

Police are looking for Steven L. Messex, 43. He is described as white, 5-foot-9 and weighs 160 pounds. He also has brown hair and blue eyes and three tattoos: a gargoyle on his right arm, Popeye on his left forearm and barbed wire on his left arm. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

About 4:50 a.m. Saturday, July 20, police were dispatched to a shooting in an area near the 1400 block of Evergreen Park Drive Southwest. That’s where they found a 34-year-old woman, later identified as Savannah M. Feiler, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The shooting was reportedly prompted by an argument, The Olympian reported.

Anyone with information about Messex is asked to call 911.
