One dead after a house explosion in Madison County. What we know

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal house explosion in the town of Lincoln.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, July 24, a dispatch went out for an explosion in the area of 4621 Burleson Road in Lincoln at around 6:40 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies, New York State Police, and the town of Lincoln Fire Department were dispatched by Madison County 911.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found debris from a house that had exploded. Crews began searching, and two people were found entrapped in the debris.

Mercy Flight airlifted the adult male resident of the home, but unfortunately, the adult woman resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies have not yet released the names of those found in the debris.

At this time, the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Town of Lincoln Fire Department, Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, Madison County EMS, Madison County Office of Emergency Management, the Canastota Fire Department, the Wampsville Fire Department, City of Oneida Fire Department, National Grid, Sylvan Beach Fire Department, New York State Fire, New York State Department of Homeland Security, Mercy Flight Central and Madison County Highway Department.
