Online Casino Australia Reveal the Most Successful Poker Players in the World

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire -08/14/12)- Recent figures show that online poker remains the number one online casino game in the world, Online Casino Australia announces its list of the world's greatest poker players.

Phil Ivey

Phillip D. Ivey, unofficially dubbed the 'Tiger Woods of Poker', has winnings of more than $16 million in his playing career, making him the top-ranked player in the world, based on tournament earnings and third on the all time money list. He's currently regarded as the best all-round player in the world today. Besides his impressive winnings, Ivey has eight World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and one World Poker Tour (WPT) title to his name, and has appeared at nine WPT final tables.

Phil Hellmuth

Better known as the 'Poker Brat', Hellmuth is a renowned sore loser, famed for his outbursts after losing hands. But his fiery temperament hasn't stopped him from becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world, some say the best tournament player of all time. With twelve WSOP bracelets under his belt, Hellmuth has won more WSOP bracelets than any other player in history, with No-Limit Hold 'Em his specialty. He has been officially inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame.

Doyle Brunson

Known affectionately as 'The Godfather of Poker', Brunson has been playing competitively for over 50 years. His Super System poker manual is considered the poker bible and is essential reading for serious poker players. One of the very few players to have won multiple, consecutive WSOP Main Event titles (1976 and 1977), those titles may have been decades ago, but he cashed as recently as 2005 in a 6-max NL tournament, proving he's still got it.

Stu Ungar

No list of the world's greatest players would be complete without Ungar. Widely regarded to have been the greatest Texas Hold 'Em player of all time and the only player to have won the WSOP Main Event title three times. Sadly we didn't get to see this master at work as often as we'd like, due to drug addictions that led to his premature death - but when he did play he was unstoppable. A mathematical genius, he played with almost supernatural powers, counting cards and calculating odds in a snap, with an ability to know what his opponents were holding. He's believed to have won tournaments without ever looking at his hole cards. With all his flaws, he remains the biggest talent the card table has ever seen.
