Opioid remediation grants available through Cass County

Jul. 6—CASS LAKE — The Cass County Board of Commissioners and Cass County Opioid Settlement Committee have opened up applications for grant funding and invited community organizations and partners to apply.

An estimated $400,000 is available for this round of funding, which will run from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025, in two phases. The estimated amount awarded will be up to $50,000. No matching funds are required.

Cass County is looking to use the funds to help establish new, sustainable programs or to expand existing programs that will aid the community in the remediation of opioids. The eligible areas of focus are harm reduction, prevention, criminal justice and treatment and recovery, a release said.

The grants will be competitive, with applications reviewed by a committee of professionals with a broad range of relevant experience.

and should be submitted by email no later than Aug. 31. Recipients of the funds will be announced at Cass County Board meetings.

These grants are part of funding provided by a multi-million-dollar settlement with the state of Minnesota with opioid distributors and manufacturers. Cass County is expecting to receive $3.3 million between 2022 and 2038.
