Outbound Bishop Ford Freeway reopened near Sibley Blvd. after fatal crash early Monday morning: ISP

THORNTON TOWNSHIP, Ill. — The outbound Bishop Ford Freeway has been reopened after a fatal pedestrian-versus-vehicle crash investigation shut down all southbound lanes near Sibley Boulevard in the south suburbs early Monday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

Traffic was being diverted off the outbound Bishop Ford at 147th Street.

According to a preliminary investigation by ISP, troopers responded to the car-versus-pedestrian crash on the outbound Bishop Ford at 159th Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

ISP says the pedestrian was the driver of a car that had been in a previous crash and was attempting to cross active traffic from a disabled vehicle in the middle lane. The pedestrian was then struck by a passing vehicle that remained on scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, ISP says.
