Pa. park celebrates 109 years with festival
HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) — One recreational gem in Western Pennsylvania celebrated its 109th anniversary festival on Saturday.
Buhl Park, located at 715 Hazen Road, was founded in 1915 with a year of work beforehand. The park hosted vendors, live music and a self-guided history walk to celebrate.
The goal has always been to provide an area where anyone in the community can enjoy the outdoors. The park still has its original layout but has gained new additions for community interests.
“People come to do so many wonderful things. If you’re a kid, you learn to swim here or play gold here. You’ll walk your dog for the first time. If you’re a grandparent, you enjoy those same moments with your grandkids. So, it’s wonderful to see people come out and enjoy the park,” said executive director Tom Roskos.
Roskos said the park is already looking ahead to plan next year’s 110th anniversary festival.
