Dozens of passengers riding Tri-Rail's inaugural express train expecting a faster one-way trip to downtown Miami were instead delayed by more than 30 minutes Monday, July 1, morning after another train hit and killed someone.

Passengers alerted at 5:40 a.m. from Tri-Rail said a northbound train was late because of an "incident" involving the train.

As Tri-Rail's southbound express train from downtown West Palm Beach stopped at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport station on schedule at 7:18 a.m., staff told passengers they needed to get off and take a bus to get to Miami. Staff told passengers who asked for details that police had yet to reopen the Hallandale Beach Boulevard crossing where someone crossing the tracks was hit and killed by a train.
