Passenger dies after two-vehicle collision near Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead and three others injured after a two-vehicle crash occurred in Richland County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, deputies responded to mile post seven on State Route 13, where a woman was driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota northbound at 5:04 a.m. The woman veered left of center and struck a woman driving a 2015 Subaru Outback heading southbound.

The Dodge overturned and came to rest on the west edge of the road. Inside the Dodge were two passengers, including 48-year-old Nathan Phillips, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a second passenger were taken to Ohio Health Mansfield with serious injuries. The driver of the Subaru was treated at the scene and released.

Phillips and the driver of the Subaru were wearing seatbelts while the driver of the Dodge and the second passenger were not. The crash remains under investigation by the OSHP.
