Passengers uninjured after plane damaged at Johnson County airport

NEW CENTURY, Kan. — Two people were uninjured after a plane was damaged at New Century Airport on Saturday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m., Fire District #1 of Johnson County, was called to New Century Pkwy in New Century, Kansas for a downed aircraft.

Units arrived to the scene within two minutes to find a small passenger aircraft that was already landed and fully intact with damage to one of the wings along with part of the landing gear.

There were two passengers on board who received no injuries. There was a minor fuel leak due to the accident which was contained by crews and didn’t create any hazards.

The accident created a closure on one of the two runways and it was re-opened shortly after 3:00 p.m. The accident is under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
