Pedestrian crossing busy Myrtle Beach, SC area highway dies after hit by 2 vehicles

A pedestrian has died after being struck by two vehicle while trying to cross the highway near Surfside Beach.

The accident occurred at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 17 Bypass near Wood Thrush Drive, according to Cpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A 2002 Lexus was traveling northbound on U.S. 17 when it hit the pedestrian who was trying to cross the road. Another vehicle also hit the pedestrian but then left the scene, according to Jones. The pedestrian died on the scene.

The name of the pedestrian has not been released.
