Pedestrian hit by train in Portland, sustains life-threatening injuries

Nov. 7—A man was hit by a train and brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries on Thursday afternoon.

The man was hit by a train behind Gilman Electrical Supply on Saint James Street in Portland around 1:30 p.m., Portland police said. He was brought to Maine Medical Center. The man's identify is unknown, police said.

The Portland Police Department, the Amtrak Railroad Police and CSX Rail are investigating the crash. No charges have been filed, according to authorities. A Portland police spokesperson said Thursday evening that they do not have an update on his condition.
