Pennsylvania Capitol Police swear in three new officers

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– The Pennsylvania Capitol Police swore in three new officers today through the Pennsylvania Capitol Police Recruit Program.

The Pennsylvania Capitol Police launched the Pennsylvania Capitol Police Recruit Program in an effort to boost recruitment. The program covers the cost of police academy training and Act 120 certification.

The Act 120 certification program is a certified law enforcement training center under the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) ACT 120, according to the HACC site.

Two of the officers sworn in today are in the third group of candidates to complete the program. The third officer was hired through the agency’s Act 120 program.

Nathan Lee, one of the new officers, said, “It’s a big day anytime you graduate, and you move forward with your career. It’s nice to know that the agency cares and that they took the time to put this on. Even though it’s a small thing it’s the thought that counts.”

Eleven officers have joined the capitol police’s ranks since the program started.

“Today, we proudly welcome these new officers to the Pennsylvania Capitol Police force. Their dedication and successful completion of the comprehensive training program underscore our unwavering commitment to maintaining the safety and security of our Commonwealth community,” said Department of General Services Secretary Reggie McNeil. “These officers embody the high standards and values we uphold in our service to the people of Pennsylvania.”
