Are Pennsylvania liquor stores open on July 4th?

(WHTM) – Many government offices are closed across Pennsylvania on Thursday in recognition of the Fourth of July.

One state-operated entity that will be open on Independence Day is Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores. According to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, all stores will be open on Thursday, July 4 until 5 p.m.

However, PennDOT license centers will be closed for observation of the holiday.

The only holidays where Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores will be closed are Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Earlier this year the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board shared what some of the most popular spirits are across the state after reporting $3.15 billion in sales.

Tequila, ready-to-drink beverages, and whiskey topped the list of product categories with the largest year-over-year dollar gains, with increases ranging from 3.8% to 51.9% across categories.

The report also stated that unflavored vodkas were the top spirits in 43 counties across the state. Nearly $336 million in sales were made with unflavored vodka in 2022-23, followed by nearly $285 million in American Whiskey (bourbon).

When it comes to wine, Californa cabernet sauvignon was the top wine category in 42 counties, while another 13 counties had box red wine as the top wine. California chardonnay and beverage wine were the top wines in the remaining counties, with six each.

In all 67 counties, whiskey had the top share of sales followed by vodka, however, unflavored vodka made more money.
