Pennsylvania Senate Race: Bob Casey endorses Kamala Harris after Biden drop outs

(WHTM) – Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Bob Casey joined fellow Democrats in endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday after President Joe Biden announced he would no longer seek a second term.

Casey and Harris were colleagues in the Senate prior to Harris being elected Vice President in 2020. Harris served in the Senate representing California from 2017 until being sworn in as Vice President in January 2021.

“With women’s rights, workers’ rights, and voting rights on the line, the stakes of this election for Pennsylvania and the Nation couldn’t be higher,” said Casey. “Vice President Harris has been leading on those fights and as a former prosecutor, she will draw a clear contrast between herself and former President Trump. She is prepared to be Commander-in-Chief and is the best person to meet this moment. I’m proud to endorse her candidacy for President.

Following President Biden’s announcement on Sunday, Casey’s opponent in the Senate race, Republican Dave McCormick, said Biden was “not capable of serving as Commander-in-Chief.”

McCormick also said Casey “has voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ failing liberal agenda and tired, old ideas 98% of the time, fueling a border crisis that killed over 4,000 Pennsylvanians from fentanyl last year, violent crime terrorizing our communities, record high rent, gas and groceries, and regulations that are crushing the commonwealth’s energy sector.”

Election Day is November 5.
