Peoria man pleads guilty in DUI wrong-way crash that killed a mom and injured her daughter

A Peoria man pleaded guilty to murder in a fatal DUI crash that killed a mother and injured her daughter in January 2024, the Pinal County Attorney's Office announced Monday.

Adam Parker, 38, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder and aggravated assault with no plea agreement in place, according to a news release from the Attorney's Office. Parker was indicted on the two charges in February.

On Jan. 20, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., multiple people reported a truck driving aggressively, moving in and out of traffic, and driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the U.S. 60 near Mountain View Road, the news release said. Soon after, the truck collided with an SUV traveling the correct way on the road, the release said.

Parker was identified as the driver of the truck, and a blood test showed his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was 0.23, according to the Attorney's Office.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 28-year-old Elizabeth McAloon, who died from her injuries, the release said. McAloon's 7-year-old daughter was also injured in the crash.

According to the Attorney's Office, the victims were driving home from church when the crash occurred.

"While accountability is an important step in this case, our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims’ family, and especially with the young child who has to grow up without her mother," Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer said in the release. "This case demonstrates the devastating consequences that can occur when choosing to drink and drive.”

Parker was scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 6.
