In Peoria, Sweet Basil Cafe announced it will be closed following an incident of "a vehicle driving into our building."

The July 18 Facebook post did not include a planned reopening date. However, the establishment said it is remodeling the space.

Peoria Police Department spokesperson Semone Roth said the crash — which involved a commercial truck and SUV — occurred at the intersection of West Lake Avenue and North Sheridan Road at 6:45 a.m. on July 17. She said the commercial truck collided with the other vehicle, went over the embankment and struck Sweet Basil Cafe.

No one at the restaurant or in the vehicles was injured, Roth said.

Moving forward, the restaurant announced plans to offer dinner Thursday through Saturday and is working to obtain a liquor license.
