A person has died after a five-vehicle crash in the Myrtle Beach, SC, area
A driver involved in a five-vehicle crash has died — two days after the accident that occurred in the Myrtle Beach area.
The name of the driver has not been released.
The accident happened at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, on Carolina Forest Boulevard near Southgate Parkway, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Nine people were involved in the accident, with three people being sent to the hospital. The driver of one of the vehicles died at the hospital on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, from their injuries, Butler said.
Butler said the driver who later died had collided with the other four vehicles who were traveling in the same direction on Carolina Forest Boulevard.
Traffic was blocked on the roadway for more than three hours as rescue crews worked to remove people from one of the vehicles that had overturned.
