Person found dead in east Mesa house fire
A person was found dead at a house fire in east Mesa early Thursday.
Around 2:30 a.m., a 911 caller said there was smoke and flames coming from a house near 72nd Street and East Broadway Road, according to Mesa police. Officers began evacuating nearby homes and fire crews extinguished the fire, police said.
Fire personnel found a person inside the house who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. As of Thursday morning, the identity of the person had not been disclosed.
An investigation was underway, police said.
