The weather in the Phoenix area, and across the state, is pretty consistent: Most days are clear and sunny. But every summer the monsoon provides us with a little variety, and storms pop up across the Southwest. Those storms can offer a small respite from the record-breaking heat that the state has been experiencing.

June 2024 was the hottest June on record in Phoenix, despite the arrival of the monsoon. The Arizona monsoon season starts approximately in June and continues through September. Since 2008, the established dates from the National Weather Service are from June 15 through Sept. 30.
