Photos: Investigators trying to identify Edgewater Park shooting suspects

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying more suspects in a shooting at Edgewater Park that sent one person to the hospital over the weekend.

Officers were called to Edgewater Park at about 9 p.m. on Saturday for reports of shots fired. Police found one person, an 18-year-old, who had been shot. They were transported to the hospital and later released.

On Thursday, Cleveland Metroparks police confirmed that about 16 people pulled out firearms and several of them fired shots during the incident.

Investigators have now released photos of three suspects in the shooting.

The Cleveland Metroparks Summer Concert at Edgewater Park has been canceled for Thursday night “out of an abundance of caution,” park officials announced on Facebook.

“We are working to identify the suspects involved in this incident and utilizing all law enforcement resources available,” said Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Kelly Stillman. “This type of criminal behavior will not be tolerated anywhere within Cleveland Metroparks and we are working in close coordination with our law enforcement partners to identify and prosecute all suspects to the full extent of the law.”

Canton 11-month-old dead, parents charged with abuse

One suspect, a 17-year-old whose identity hasn’t been released, was arrested on site. They face several charges, including felony assault, discharging a firearm in a prohibited place and carrying a concealed weapon.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Cleveland Metroparks released the following statement:

“The safety of Cleveland Metroparks guests and staff is a top priority. Guests will see a heightened presence by Cleveland Metroparks Police at Edgewater Park. Additionally, the Cuyahoga County Sherriff’s Department and City of Cleveland Police Department will provide law enforcement support as necessary.”
