A pilot and a passenger were on the plane, officials said. No injuries were reported.

The runway was temporarily closed while the plane was removed.

Flight arrivals and departures at Newark Liberty International Airport may be delayed during the investigation, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

“The FAA is slowing the flow of aircraft into Newark Liberty International Airport because an Embraer business jet went off the runway after landing,” the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. “This resulted in a temporary runway closure which reduced the airport’s arrival capacity.”

As of 3 p.m., flights to Newark Liberty International Airport were experiencing delays averaging 95 minutes, and flights leaving from Newark were experiencing delays averaging 15 minutes, according to the FAA.
