Subject reportedly armed with knife shot by Fremont officer: police

(KRON) – A Fremont police officer fired a shot at a subject armed with a knife, according to the Fremont Police Department.

Fremont PD was alerted of a carjacking in the parking lot of a store on the 44000 block of Osgood Road around 9 a.m. on Sunday. The department was informed the suspect was armed with a knife and fled before police arrived.

According to Fremont PD, shortly after responding officers contacted a subject matching the suspect’s description walking on Automall Parkway near the crime scene. Police said the subject was armed with a knife.

According to police, one of the officers discharged his service weapon, striking the subject once. The officers rendered aid to the subject, according to police. The subject was then transported to a local hospital.

The subject is in stable condition, according to Fremont PD. There were no officers injured in this incident.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
