Police ID driver killed in two-car New City crash as 84-year-old Nanuet man
The police identified the driver killed in Friday’s two-car crash in New City as Patrick Tully, 84, of Nanuet.
The Hyundai Elantra driven by Tully south on Route 304 crossed over the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic, according to initial witness reports, Clarkstown police said.
The car then struck a northbound Toyota Highlander driven by a 51-year-old Haverstraw man, who sustained serious injuries, the police said. The Toyota's passenger, a 53-year-old Stony Point man, had minor injuries.
The police said the crash occurred at about 11:50 a.m. in the area of Route 304 and East Phillips Hill Road, in Clarkstown's New City hamlet.
Officers found the heavily damaged Hyundai in the middle of Route 304 and heavily damaged Toyota in the wooded area next to the highway's northbound lanes, the police said. New City firefighters removed the Toyota's two occupants, who were treated by New City and Congers ambulance corps members and Rockland paramedics and then taken to an area hospital.

The investigation is ongoing said the police, who asked that anyone who witnessed the crash or who has video footage to call the police at 845-639-5840.
