Police identify victim, suspect in southeast Austin homicide investigation

AUSTIN (KXAN) — In an update Friday, the Austin Police Department identified a man accused of stabbing and killing another man Wednesday.

APD said 34-year-old Alex Trevino was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Javier Antonio Navarro Quesada.

Police said this case was being investigated as Austin’s 36th homicide of 2024.

On the day of the incident, officers responded to a shoot/stab hotshot call at 2101 Burton Drive. At the scene, first responders found Quesada with injuries consistent with a stab wound. Life-saving measures were performed; however, Quesada was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation showed the altercation between Trevino and Quesada was a result of a vehicle that had been stolen.
