ROYAL PALM BEACH — A 23-year-old man was arrested Saturday and charged with armed robbery after an incident at a shopping center parking lot in which another person was shot in the hand, police said Sunday.

Quinton P. Robinson was charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and four drug-related charges Saturday night after being taken into custody at a Royal Palm Beach residence in the 1800 block of Palm Beach Trace Drive, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

A search warrant served on the home discovered evidence in the incident, including the gun and clothing used in the robbery, as well as cash, deputies said. Robinson was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was being held Sunday.

Police were called to the parking lot on the northwest corner of Royal Palm Beach and Okeechobee boulevards in Royal Palm Beach at 5 p.m. Friday after reports of a shooting. Investigators learned there had been an armed robbery there in which a victim had been shot in the hand.

The suspect had fled the scene, and the shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, deputies said.

No additional information was available Sunday afternoon.
