POLICE NEWS: Goshen woman injured in crash

Jul. 16—A woman was hospitalized following a crash where police say she pulled out of a driveway and failed to yield right of way Monday morning

Elkhart County deputies report that at 11:19 a.m. Janice Soard, 64, of Goshen, was traveling north out of the private drive at 21826 Ind. 20, east of C.R. 17 in a 2019 Ford Echo Sport. Ronald Wing Jr., 43, of Elkhart was traveling east on Ind. 120, east of C.R. 17 in a 2018 GMC Terrain.

Police say Soard pulled out in front of the Terrain and was struck.

Soard was transported to Goshen Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and cited for failure to yield the right of way.

ARRESTS

—A man was arrested by Goshen police at 8:28 a.m. Sunday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after police were called to the U.S. Postal Service, 415 W. Pike St., in reference to a man sleeping in the driver's seat of a vehicle, blocking the entrance to the post office.

—A 27-year-old man was arrested by Goshen police at 12:59 a.m. on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving without insurance after he allegedly left the scene of a crash in the 1200 of Chicago Avenue.

—A 49-year-old man was arrested by Elkhart County deputies at 7:25 p.m. Saturday on a charge of operating a vehicle on a suspended license and reckless driving in the 64000 block of Ind. 19 in Wakarusa.

BURGLARY

—A 30-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that around noon Sunday someone burglarized her home in the 1300 block of Bristol Street and a green Victrip electric bicycle was stolen.

—A 57-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between 8:30 p.m. July 12 and 9:14 a.m. July 13 someone forced entry into a building at the New Paris Speedway and stole a laptop and 12 two-way radios with chargers.

RESIDENTIAL ENTRY

A 54-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies at 10:29 a.m. Saturday two individuals she knew entered her home in the 29000 block of Cleveland Avenue in Elkhart.

OFFICERS REPORT

—Elkhart County deputies responded to a report at 3:47 p.m. July 11 of a potential shooting near C.R. 16 and Shore Avenue.

—Elkhart County deputies responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at Ind. 15 and C.R. 112 at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver was airlifted to Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A 24-year-old man reported to Goshen police at 6:49 p.m. Sunday that someone he knew damaged his vehicle in the 300 block of Arbor Court.

THEFTS

—A 35-year-old woman reported to Elkhart County deputies that between 3 p.m. May 17 and 4 p.m. May 20 someone stole her daughter's headphones from the 800 block of Mishawaka Road in Elkhart.

—A 68-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between 8 p.m. July 10 and 3:40 a.m. July 11 someone stole a 1997 Texas Bragg Flatbed from the 23000 block of U.S. 33.

—Elkhart County deputies responded to a report that between 2-3 a.m. Friday someone stole a 1995 Ford Windstar out of Paul's Auto Yard, 23332 C.R. 10.

FRAUD

A 49-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that at 4:30 p.m. July 6 fraud was committed on his teen son.
