Police search for person responsible for ‘mass graffiti’ incident in Oak Lawn

OAK LAWN, Ill. — An investigation is underway in the south suburbs after several vehicles were vandalized in what police are calling a mass graffiti incident.

According to Oak Lawn police, in the early morning hours on Sunday, officers found several vehicles that had been vandalized with spray paint.

Police say many of the vehicles had “BLM” or “Crack” spray painted on them.

Officers say many of the impacted vehicles were located in an area between South Cicero Avenue and Laramie Avenue, between 107th Street and 111th Street.

A search is now underway for the person responsible.

On Monday, officers shared photos captured by surveillance cameras of the person who is believed to have been responsible, in hopes that residents in the area may be able to identify them.

Police say they believe it was a man who acted alone and approached the vehicles on foot while wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, gray sweatpants, brown boots and a black backpack.
