Police search for vehicle in deadly hit-and-run crash in central Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police are searching for a vehicle of interest in a deadly hit-and-run crash in the central valley.

Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Metro police responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian near Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road.

Police said evidence at the scene and witness statements showed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Harmon Avenue, west of Paradise Road outside of a marked crosswalk when a midsized SUV traveling westbound on Harmon Avenue crossed paths with the pedestrian.

The SUV hit the pedestrian and projected him onto the roadway. The SUV driver failed to remain at the scene and fled the area.

The 62-year-old pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to Metro police.

Police are searching for the SUV which is described as having damage to the right front headlight assembly and hood. It also has a dark tint and apparent chrome rims, police said.
