Police: Serial flasher, 91, strikes in Muncie again

MUNCIE, Ind. — An Indianapolis man has been accused of exposing himself to young women at Muncie's Target store — again.

Edward Clarence Uhles, 91, was charged July 23 in Delaware Circuit Court 1 with display of matter harmful to minors and public indecency, both Level 6 felonies with maximum 30-month sentences.

The incident reportedly captured on video took place in the store, at 3601 N. Barr St., on Nov. 9, according to an affidavit that said Uhles had displayed his genitalia to three teenage girls.

According to that document, Target employees were able to identify Uhles after determining he had been arrested in Carmel after an indecent exposure incident at that Hamilton County city's Target store in July 2023.

His trial in that case, in Hamilton Superior Court 7, is set for Oct. 2.

He also faces a public indecency charge that was filed in Bartholomew County on July 2.

In November 2016, Uhles was charged with two counts of public indecency in Delaware Circuit Court 3 after he was repeatedly accused of exposing himself at the Muncie Target store.

According to police reports, Uhles twice exposed himself to two women — ages 21 and 18 — as they shopped in the Barr Street store’s shoe and sleepwear departments on July 16, 2016.

City police investigated that incident but did not have a suspect’s name until October of that year, when Uhles allegedly returned to the Muncie store and “showed his genitals to customers,” including a mother shopping with her two daughters.

In 2018, he resolved those 2016 charges by pleading guilty to one count of public indecency, drawing a suspended sentence.

According to court records, Uhley has been convicted of public indecency at least five other times in Hamilton, Marion and Monroe counties.

He also has public nudity convictions in Hendricks and Monroe counties.
