California’s U.S. Senate race pits Democratic U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff versus Republican former Major League Baseball star Steve Garvey.

Schiff, who was the lead prosecutor in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial, has campaigned on addressing climate change, health care reform and economic inequality.

Garvey, the former Dodgers and Padres first baseman, hopes his sports fame can help him win in politics. He is pushing for improved public safety, immigration reform and solving California’s homelessness crisis.

The winner in November’s general election will assume the seat held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who passed away in 2023 at age 90.
