President Joe Biden will be speaking during a press conference Thursday afternoon, as the NATO Summit wraps up its 75th anniversary in Washington D.C.

It is Biden's first press conference since a disastrous debate against former President Donald Trump on Thursday, June 27. Biden's less than favorable performance has left the Democratic Party rattled, leaving many of them wondering if he's the correct choice for the Democratic nominee.

As previously reported by USA TODAY, many Democratic lawmakers have come forth requesting Biden drop out of the presidential race, citing concerns about his advanced age as well as his physical and mental health.

Biden however, is fervent in his decision to remain in the race. On July 8, Biden sent a letter to Democrats on Capitol Hill in an attempt to reassure them he is fit for the presidency and has the ability to defeat Trump.

"I can respond to all this by saying clearly and unequivocally: I wouldn't be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024," said Biden.

"This was a process open to anyone who wanted me to run … The voters of the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party," he added.
