With voting season just around the corner, The St. Augustine Record is offering residents of America’s oldest city a one-stop reference for voting in St. Augustine.

Primary elections select the nominees for the general election. Aug. 5 is the final day to request a mail ballot for the Aug. 20 primary election. While it's too late to register for the primary, voters have until Oct. 7 to register for the Nov. 5 general election. Early voting takes place Aug. 10-17 for the Aug. 20 primary. Polls are open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Registered Republicans will receive a Republican ballot. Registered Democrats will receive a Democratic ballot. Voters without party affiliations and minor party affiliates can’t vote for party candidates and will receive a nonpartisan ballot. The only race open to voters of all parties Aug. 20 is for the office of Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.

“Early voting is popular as it provides the opportunity for voters to cast a ballot in person at a location, date and time that is convenient for them,” said Vicky Oakes, St. Johns County Supervisor of Elections. “Dates include two Saturdays and one Sunday. Locations, dates and times vary per election.”

Oakes underscored that everyone should have a voting plan with updated registration and address information.

“You can also view your sample ballot and check your voting location," she continued. "Voting locations have changed since the last election, so verify yours is correct before heading out to the polls on election day.”

To review registration status, update voter records, view sample ballots or request a vote-by-mail ballot, go to https://www.votesjc.gov, and look under the "Voters" tab. Voters are encouraged to update address information before election day to ensure proper polling locations.

Although most people register to vote when they obtain their driver’s license, voters can also register online; at the St. Johns County Public Library Systems during evenings and weekend hours; at the Tax Collectors Office; and the Supervisor of Elections Office located at 4455 Ave. A, Suite 101, St. Augustine, Florida, 32095 during regular business hours.

"Voting has never been easier than it is today,” Oakes said.
