Public input requested, Traffic Safety Action Plan

Public input requested, Traffic Safety Action Plan

Bi-State Regional Commission (BSRC) is requesting public input on a Traffic Safety Action Plan.

According to a press release, BSRC was awarded a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant in 2023 from the U.S. Department of Transportation to complete a Traffic Safety Action Plan (TSAP) for Quad Cities-Iowa/Illinois, Kewanee, Illinois and Muscatine, Iowa.

In short, it is a plan put in place to get people safely to their destination. Through a consultant-led process, the Study Team will collaborate with Quad Cities transportation planning staff and Transportation Technical Committee along with city staff from Muscatine and Kewanee to oversee the TSAP development.

Public involvement is also an important part of the plan development. The BSRC has developed an online interactive Traffic Safety Map for the public and stakeholders to identify roadway safety issues within the Quad Cities, Kewanee and Muscatine communities, and send their concerns directly to the Study Team.

We encourage members of the public to add locations to this map for the Study Team to collect and analyze for possible safety and infrastructure improvements. To access the map, click here.

In addition, the team has an online comment form for the public to submit questions, traffic safety concerns, or other information to the Study Team located here.

For more information, visit the BSRC website. Future public input opportunities will be available before the TSAP is completed by Spring of 2025.
