Publix recalls 13 ground beef products. They might have ‘foreign material’ inside

The latest not-food-in-your-food recall comes from Publix, which has recalled 13 ground round, ground chuck and ground sirloin products “due to the potential of foreign material in the product.”

Now, before you start tossing ground beef with both hands, know that this is a very confined recall.

This covers ground beef products made on Tuesday at the Publix at Jacaranda Commons Shopping Center, 345 Jacaranda Blvd. in unincorporated Sarasota County, about 40 minutes south of Bradenton. Each of the products has a sell-by date after Tuesday June 18.

“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from the store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix Director of Communications.

So, if you picked up any ground beef products, including burgers or sliders, at that Publix on Tuesday, check them against the list posted by Publix. If you have recalled beef, throw it out or return it for a full refund.

Any questions about this recall should be directed to Publix at 800-242-1227.
