Pulaski Sheriff's Office warns of jury duty scam

Jul. 16—The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday that it has received multiple complaints from the public in reference to an ongoing scam.

According to the Sheriff's Office, citizens have claimed to have received phone calls from deputies with the Sheriff's Office regarding the citizen's failure to comply with a jury duty summons. The call appears to be made through the Sheriff's Office phone number, and on a couple of occasions, the person uses the name of deputies who do work for this agency.

Although the details are not fully known at this time, this is a common scam that circulates, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office will not contact a citizen by telephone regarding their failure to comply with a jury duty summons. Anyone who receives a call that appears to be from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office by someone claiming to be a deputy sheriff, and is concerned as to whether they have missed jury duty, should contact the Pulaski County Circuit Clerk's Office to confirm whether they have or not.

If the recipient of the call believes the call to be legitimate, they should tell the caller they will call back to the Sheriff's Office to speak with the deputy in question.

Sheriff Bobby Jones asks anyone with any information about drug activity or any crime to contact the Sheriff's Office tip line at 606-679-8477 or leave a tip at http://www.pulaskisheriff.com.
