ONTARIO ― Denny's is closing its restaurant on Lexington-Springmill Road and Raising Cane's is going to build a new restaurant at the site.

According to Raising Cane's plan review application form, filed with the Ontario Zoning Office on June 17, Raising Cane's listed the Denny's address of 720 N. Lexington-Springmill Road.

The 24-hour Denny's restaurant opened 45 years ago at the site.

Denny's regional manager Josh Perry declined comment. The restaurant's local manager could not comment on the closing, an employee relayed to the News Journal.

Earlier this month, city officials said they know the location of the upcoming Raising Cane's restaurant but are holding off on disclosing it.

Eddie Gallo, president of Ontario City Council, said the location will be on Lexington-Springmill Road in an existing business that is going to close.

"I don't want an employee in this space to find out about it in the news," Gallo said.

Raising Cane's is one of the country's fastest growing chains, known for its chicken fingers. In November, the News Journal published an article after the restaurant posted two local job openings on its website.
