On Monday, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon issued a 93-page ruling that dismissed the superceding indictment against former President Donald Trump and his two co-defendants, Waltine Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira.

Her ruling focused on the prosecutor Jack Smith, and questioned the ability of the Department of Justice to appoint him.

Trump had faced 40 felony counts of illegally hoarding classified documents at Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, and obstructing FBI efforts to get those documents back. Nauta, Trump’s personal valet, and De Oliveira, a Mar-a-Lago maintenance worker, were charged with assisting Trump in his efforts to prevent retrieval of the documents. All had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
