Rebecca Ferguson on for another "Mission: Impossible"

Rebecca Ferguson on for another "Mission: Impossible"

10 Dec – Having impressed both fans and critics with her performance in the most recent "Mission: Impossible" movie, lead actress Rebecca Ferguson has said yes to a second outing as agent Ilsa Faust.

The 32-year-old has accepted the mission to star opposite Tom Cruise again, according to Showbiz411, making her the first actress to return as the IMF agent's leading lady in the franchise.

Previous leading ladies Emmanuelle Béart ("Mission: Impossible"), Thandie Newton ("Mission: Impossible II"), Michelle Monaghan ("Mission: Impossible III") and Paula Patton ("Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol") all only played the role once.

Ferguson isn't the only one from this year's "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" going for a second round in the action spy thriller movie series – discounting Cruise, the franchise star – as writer-director Christopher McQuarrie will also be returning.

As previously reported, McQuarrie will be directing the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 6". This also makes him the first director to helm two instalments of the franchise.

Before Ferguson teams up with McQuarrie and Cruise again in the next instalment, the actress will be busy filming for "Girl on the Train" with Justin Theroux, "Florence Foster Jenkins" with Meryl Streep, and "The Snowman" with Michael Fassbender.

"Mission: Impossible 6" is expected to begin filming in August 2016 and slated for release sometime in 2017.
